Product Description

Beading-Grade Birch Bark Sheet — 8x8 | $5 each

This carefully selected birch bark is between two and four printer pages thick — ideal for beading, wrapping, backing, or cutting into panels for small cultural works. Each sheet is hand-harvested from local live trees that naturally shed their bark seasonally — no cutting away or felling required.

Advice from Morgyn to new birch beaders:

Gently hold the bark over a steady stream of steam before piercing a line of holes to stitch if you want to soften and shape it without splitting the sheet.

Waxed thread or sinew is recommended for best results and you should be gently while pulling your threads through so not to "strip" a stitch out of the bark. These strong, beading-grade sheets hold up to stitching with hardly if any tearing, and can also be used as backing for medallions, earrings, and other heritage pieces. It absorbs most instant and offers great purchase for most gel/epoxy glues -- for reference.

We also offer thinner birchbark in individual and stacked bundles (great for smudge wrappers, cups, or lining), but this listing is specifically for premium beading bark — each sheet sold individually.
