Kira•Kira•Beading

My name is Michelle Offutt, I am an Indigenous beader of mixed descent. Lax Kw’alaams, Tsimshian on my Father’s side and Scottish and English on my Mother’s side. 
I was taught to bead in the late 1990’s by a dear friend in the Squamish Nation. I began beading again towards the end of the pandemic as a way to reconnect to my culture. 

Kira was my beloved dog’s name and also means ‘sparkle’ or ‘twinkle’ in Japanese.
