Ate Kay's Farm
Ate Kay’s Farm (pronounced ahh-tey) is a small-scale tea farm led by Kaitlin Rizarri, a farmer based in Tkaronto committed to food sovereignty and community wellness. The farm centers herbs and flowers that can support with grief, sleep, anxiety, depression, and burnout.
The herbs grown at Ate Kay’s—such as lemon balm, chamomile, skullcap, calendula, lavender, st. john's wort and more—are used in teas and salves designed to nurture rest and recovery, plants that can keep us moving and in our responsibilities. The intention behind the farm is to re-establish and deepen relationships with plants as medicines, teachers, and kin, especially in the context of urban land stewardship and community care. As apart of the farms operations, BIPOC youth are invited and supported through growing herbs from seed, harvest, and processing. In this way, the farm does not only produce herbal teas, but it cultivates opportunities for people to gather around the shared work of growing plants.
