About our founder
Cody Purcell (Cody Coyote)

Cody Purcell also known by his Artist name, Cody Coyote, is of Ojibwe/Irish descent and the founder of Before Contact Clothing . He is a proud member of Matachewan First Nation in Treaty no.9 Territory and was born in unceded, unsurrendered Algonquin Territory, so-called Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

This multi-award nominated, and award winning Artist had always wanted to explore his creativity through fashion and in 2023 he launched Before Contact Clothing with the vision to amplify Indigenous representation in the fashion industry and beyond.

Before Contact Clothing

Before Contact Clothing is a proudly Indigenous owned streetwear brand that was launched on July 1st, 2023 after a name change from Bimaadiziwin Collective which was initially launched in the year 2020.

July 1st was strategically chosen in response to so-called "Canada Day" and to remind people living in Turtle Island that the Indigenous people whose homelands so-called "Canada" occupies are still here.

Our primary mission is to help create a better life for disadvantaged communities through supporting programs and initiatives wherever our brand goes. 

We strive to initiate positive change in the world today and are determined to help create a community that is focused on togetherness.
