Heartberry Beadwork

Heartberry Beadwork is located on Treaty 1 territory, with roots in Treaty 3 territory's Couchiching First Nation.
As a self-taught artist, Savanna Derksen has spent the last four years through practice, research, and discussions with Aunties all over Turtle Island, perfecting her own unique style of beading. She recognizes the value of beadwork, as well as the time, committment, knowledge, and creativity that is poured into each piece created. While her beading takes more time, she only puts out her best work, ensuring that your pieces last a lifetime and can be passed down from generation to generation.

Working as a coordinator of a program for predominantly Indigenous adolescent mothers, Savanna takes joy in the opportunities she has to teach the young women she works with about beadwork as well as lead workshops in schools. By sharing her knowledge, the young women she works with are able to pass on their knowledge and traditions to their children.
